Dechen Thurman grew up in New England in an environment that harbored Tibetan political refugees and counter cultural artists. Educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, New York University (Tisch School of the Arts) and Columbia University as well as the Jivamukti Yoga School, Natural Gourmet Cookery School and the Ohashi Institute.

He is member of screen actors guild since 1995, and appeared in over 40 stage and screen productions. Currently teaching and mentoring at Jivamukti Yoga School New York and abroad. 24 years experience private Ohashiatsu@ bodywork sessions.

This class is open to all levels of practice from beginner to master. Assistance will be provided to new students. It is a lot of fun, with some modern twists on the eternal struggles of light and darkness coming together as lovers and warriors and saints.

Art of Assists + Master Classes

The Yoga Assists book demystifies the underlying principles of the yoga assist, deepening the understanding of energetics that inform our asana practice and the student-teacher relationship,” so Dechen Thurman.

„As teachers, our ability to teach is not limited to the words we say, but we can also teach through the art of giving a hands on assist.

The goal of this workshop is to give you the tools and platform in order find confidence in your ability to give a proper assist.

By learning the art of assists we will address preventing injury for our students along with not injuring ourselves in the process,” says Dechen.

It is recommended that you have read the »Yoga Assists« book by Sharon Gannon & David Life before taking this workshop.
